02-22-05 Eleanor Hunter, the co-prosecutor of the Los Angeles Soliah-Olson "pipebomb conspiracy" case has been appointed a judge in Superior Court by California Governor "Arnold". Micheal Latin , the co-prosecutor in the Los Angeles case was appointed a judge by outgoing CA Governor Gray Davis. Soliah.com believes that they both deserve these appointments and that both, now in their fourties, will leave a strong and postive future influence on the California judical system. Soliah.com offers congratulations, and wishes them well and Godspeed. It has been an honor to deal with these two distinguished individuals.

11-08-06 Minn. Keith Ellison 1st Muslim in Congress with 56% of vote. click here

As I expected Keith Ellison won the Minnesota Fifth Congressional seat by vacated by Martin Olav Sabo. The margin was higher than I expected. Probably the main beneficiary of the unearthing of Keith Ellison's past by the "blogsphere" was MN Independence Party candidate Tammy Lee who, along with Republican Alan Fine each received 21% of the vote. The MN Independence Party is best known as the party of former Minnesota Governor Jessie Ventura.

The key local "bloggers" behind trying to bring out the facts on Keith Ellison are Powerlineblog.com (best know for spearheading the fall of Dan Rather of CBS News over "memogate") and "Minnesota Democrats Exposed". I rate "honorable mention for uncovering Keith Ellison's speech at the Soliah/Olson February 2000 fundraiser http://presslord.com/speech.htm . Also to be commended was reporter Joel Mobray who did a lot of "digging" and excellent writing.

The key obstructionist here was the Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper. It seemed "deja-vu" of the extreme resistance of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on reporting the full information on the Kathleen Ann Soliah/Sara Jane Olson case after her June 1999 arrest. A lot of local people were shocked to hear of the potential charges against Soliah/Olson in the bank robbery death of Myrna Opsahl. The rest of the local media, in both cases were better, but inconsistent, they tend to lead from the Star Tribune. (A special mention here, in both stories, goes to Minnesota Public Radio. The vast majority of it's features are left leaning but unlike the Star Tribune they will do a story and they archive it online so in that sense they are a "pseudo newspaper" They did a good job in giving the Soliah/Olson information a forum and are respected by the other media.

Keith Ellison cites the late Senator Paul Wellstone as his mentor. If you followed that, once Wellstone got in office he had an an extreme drop in approval rating once he started acting as a legislator. The more moderate voters were surprised when Wellstone voted far left in congress. Once Wellstone came somewhat closer to the Minnesota constituency the far left rebelled. I recall seeing numerous "Impeach Wellstone" signs in heavily left neighborhoods (like mine.)

Paul Wellstone was by all accounts a "nice guy", even his opponents admitted this. I think he was cited a couple of times for "trespass" at protests but that's nothing. Wellstone, by all accounts, paid his bills, didn't cheat on his wife and I can't even recall a speeding ticket. He was considered to be like those (As Joe Soucheray of "Garage Logic" calls them "prematurely aging baby boomer women" who protest every Wednesday at the Lake Street Bridge. In the case of Wellstone and these there was a presumed "absence of malice" (IE: They were pretty harmless.)

Paul Wellstone, as a Senator had six year before re-election to "right the ship". Keith Ellison has two year as a rep. If Ellison avoids criminal indictment and conviction in the next two years (his personal life management and personal finances have allegedly been a rolling disaster so far and Washington DC is a very expensive place to live. Also, DC is the "big league". All of the "peccadilloes" of Ellison that didn't get "traction" here will be looked at with a "fine tooth comb" once he is in DC. Ellison does not seem to be the kind to resign. I predict a very contentions Ellison re-election bid when the Republican Nation Convention is being held here in the Twin Cities. http://excel08.com

There is a book for someone to write here about the Ellison saga. According to my http://ruleof90.com/ I have 1 year and 22 days until early retirement civil service nirvana. (actually 11 months away because I will need to "burn" excessive leave time. I'd prefer to concentrate, post retirement on a something on the Symbionese Liberation Army.

That said my boss has to remind me that I had to take a day off for the government holiday, Veteran's Day. OK, (and maybe I'll stop by by Wednesday night karoke at my neighborhood bar and do the Looking Glass Song "Brandy, you're a fine girl". It's been a few months!

Anyway,with an extra day off I hope to archive this page and start an new (hopefully politics free) trimmed down page of Soliah.com This is part of the archive process. I hope to keep politics out of it but if major news on Keith Ellison comes I will report it here. Otherwise it will be reporting of Kathleen Ann Soliah/Sara Jane Olson and the Symbionese Liberation Army.

As for the current election results. I have extensively studied the SLA and the 1970's. and our current "contentiousness" is nothing compared to what we survived then. Due to our incredible governmental organization the "Ship of State" tends to right itself. Life will go on. We will survive this. Keep up the fight.

11-07-06 Turns out that KSTP did have a poll on the 5th congressional district after all.

"A new Survey USA poll done for KSTP-TV found that the heavily Democratic district is likely to send Democratic state Rep. Keith Ellison to Congress, despite some well-publicized objections to him. In the poll, Ellison garnered support from 49 percent of voters; Republican Alan Fine got 24 percent, and the IP's Tammy Lee received 22 percent."

The KSTP poll turned out to be on the 6th district race, not the 5th where Ellison is running. Jessie Jackson is coming into town Monday to campaign for Keith Ellison. (click here)

It's like a "back to the '70's. Behold the new "Tanya". This is a President of a major University. Like, Hello!!!! The clueless ness of this reminds me of those white lefty who got on juries and let obvious Black Panther "thugs" loose just because they were black. Never mind that when these thugs got loose they preyed on blacks and lefties. For a Soliah/Olson connection here she claimed she was a member of a SF bay area food coop called the "Food Conspiracy". Goggle the history of it. It became a loosely organized operation with two million dollars in business (multiply by for for today) the Black Panthers thugs worms there way in with predictable results. Soliah/Olson, on the defense website boasted of being a member of the Food Conspiracy.

Ten minutes after I uploaded Soliah.com the Minneapolis Star Tribune ran this article. Powerlineblog.com and MinneostaDemocratsExposed.com lead on the story so they get the kudos. It shows the power of blogs. It's fun watching the "time delay" in the MSM but good for them for reporting on "legitimizing" this story.

The US military is a great "font of creativity", They have culture of adaptability and creativity. This is why they make such great post military service employees.

This was a Minnesota unit deployed to Iraq who came up with this brilliant satire that made the Drudge report and the news of to got to maybe half of Americans. The spelling is so obviously bad that it is meant as satire.

There is a rather tenuous SLA connection here. SLA member Joe Ramiro was a charter member of the San Francisco Vietnam Veteran Against the War. They actually got their first phone line in Joe Remiro's name. Later Joe Remiro basically got kicked out of the Bay Area VVAW for being too "rad" and professing violence.

John Kerry flirted with the anti-Vietnam war side. He attended a VVAW gathering "Dewey Canyon" where violent actions were actively discussed. Many of the key instigators were from the Bay Area/San Francisco VVAW that SLA member Joe Remiro had helped start. By most accounts John Kerry thought this to "heavy" and steered away from the VVAW. For this Kerry deserves credit but it begs the question. "What did John Kerry know and when did he know it?"

Isn't amazing that our local "Lame Stream Media" has shown no interest in following up on this widely reported picture with a local angle. One glaring error in this "Manifesto" is the idea that the current "War on Drugs" will provide future work for the "parole board" (or whatever it is now called.). The concept of "indeterminate sentencing" was a "liberal" idea that was pretty much phased out by 1980 in California in favor of a determinant sentencing system which removes the "parole board" digression. The case of Kathleen Ann Soliah/Sara Jane Olson is an anomaly because she didn't face justice for a quarter century as a fugitive. Currently, almost all of the "lifers" subject to "parole board" jurisdiction have been in prison at least a quarter century. Also, the "parole board" gave Soliah/Olson a strongly "determinant" sentence formula.

Perhaps this is what happens from becoming "addicted" to talk radio. (way too topical, lacking a historical perspective.) The "Survivor" analogy doesn't seem to work well. A better one might be the 1973 movie "Soylent Green". It had a overpopulation and a limited food selection. Sounds like the prison at Chowchilla. (I was surprised that this 1973 classic movie was out on DVD.

The idea of hunting and killing human beings we are still recovering from the Hmong "Vang" shooting of six hunters in Wisconsin a couple of years ago. In the century before that there was only one case I can recall where a hunter became enraged and killed people. A remarkable record in the Midwest where millions of people hunt with firearms. Being from the Midwest it seems incredibly crass and insensitive to hunters as bloodthirsty killers. Wouldn't Sigmund Freud have called that "projection". Let's see Myrna Opsahl was murdered the pregnant bank teller said on ABC 20-20 that she was kicked in the stomach by the person Patricia Hearst said was Soliah/Olson. She miscarried the next day. Had the International House of Pancakes pipe bomb gone off, there were two dozen customers the other side of the plate glass window. This was the largest pipe bomb in US history. Soliah/Olson confessed in here guilty plea to in the Opsahl murder to her role but even after witnessing a murder of a mother of four depositing church collections she went ahead with the pipe bombing involvement. But in her mind law abiding hunters and the blood thirsty killers. Strange and very sick.

Jane Pauley played with the SLA's Angela Atwood in the Bloomington Indiana Sorority band "The Kappa Pickers" pre SLA. No evidence that Pauley knew of future SLA activity. Pauley regained contact with the Harris's after their arrest including a number of SLA interviews with the Harris's during the Hearst trial. Jane Pauley is married to the cartoonist behind "Doonsbury Gary Trudough {sp} An internet "urban legend" is that a Doonsbury cartoon used as the first letter the letters "PAIX" (Frence for "peace")in consecutive cartoon cells during the "lost year" when the SLA was at the Pennsylvania farm with the the PAIX railing. I haven't found definitive proof of this but the "PAIX" railing one to top deck on the "lost year" house definitely did exist. Here is an old google cache on this click here

Here in America we say "That is so "suburban"! Hopefully that saying won't get that new meaning if Keith Ellison is elected and takes the oath of office on the Koran. It could mean a a major influx here, especially with our generous "social service benefits". It has been reported in the media that more than 22% of social services (welfare) in Hennepin County goes to immigrants. Put conversely, if not for immigrants the social service spending would be 22% lower and taxes would be substantially lower.

Detailed update of Moore's life in prison. Sara Jane Moore was the bookkeeper for the Hearst food giveaway. In a Playboy interview Moore boasted that she had a full set of Symbionese Liberation Army audio tapes and communiqués when arrested. In the Playboy interview Moore boasted of knowing people "very close to the SLA". While a fugitive Kathleen Ann Soliah used the alias "Sara Jane Olson. Note that like Moore's first name she used "Sara". I once checked on the Census Bureau and 75% of Sara(h) have the "h" at the end. During the March 2001 ABC 20/20 interview Soliah/Olson was asked about her choice of "Sara Jane". She cited a Bob Dylan song "Sarah Jane" which has "Sarah" spelled with an "h".

It sounds like a compelling story. Apparently this alleged affair was well know to those in Ellison's circles. It could potentially involve "alleged" legal impropriety along with potential obstruction of justice and witness tampering. Since this is a federal election race it could fall under federal jurisdiction.

Search "Sara" in the Keith Ellison profile for a brief mention of the Kieth Ellison involvement in the Soliah?olson case (a Strib writer is also named "Olson", obviously no relation to Soliah/Olson's alias name but it confuses search efforts.) In the profile Ellison is quoted on the Soliah/Olson case as "offended by the fact the state wanted to bring up political stuff" in Olson's prosecution. If you read Ellison's actual speech at the February 2000 Soliah/Olson fundraiser "Ungageed 1" you can see that Ellison was being highly political. In terms of the domestic abuse allegation (and allegations against Ellison) the Star-Tribune seems to not be aware of the word "pattern". Scott Johnson of Powerline.com gets credit for actively pursuing the Ellison case for many months. Today Scott makes a strong case for an an apparent pattern of alledged abuse by Alan Fines ex-wife.

It seems that Powerlineblog.com and Scott Johnson are leading on this storywith the Star Tribune being forced to attempt a belated "catch-up". The story is an important on and interesting to follow as an example of how and when the internet media (which I like to call "The Fifth Estate") works and can be effective.

I just watched "Prairie Home Companion" on DVD. I reserved it online at http://redbox.com and rented it for a dollar a day. Two SLA connections here. It was filmed in St. Paul, MN where Soliah/Olson was arrested. A key actor in the movie was Kevin Kline. Kline went to Indiana U in Bloomington, IN at the same time the SLA's Angela (Deangeles) Atwood did. For a while the two were in "item" but, from my sources, Kevin Kline balked at the relation when Angela wanted to move it towards marriage. To be fair here, this was substantially pre-SLA involvement by Angela. (for another celebrity link Jane Pauley was in a sorority band at the school with Angela Atwood, the "Kappa Pickers". This was all pre-SLA by time and space and it does not imply any wrongdoing by Kevin Kline or Jane Pauley.

Angela Atwood was the friend of Soliah/Olson who was one of six SLA members killed in the May 1974 Los Angeles shootout.

I'd guess that this new trial order will be overturned on appeal but these things keep popping up. In the Soliah/Olson and James Kilgore there could potentially be a an appeal on the "flip/flop" guilty plea but I somewhat doubt it will be made. Michael Borton is out of prison, Bill Harris should be getting out now and Emily (Harris) Montague next spring. From my reading of the Patriot Act the statute of limitations has been removed on past terrorists acts so there is potential for prosecution of others connected with or collaborating with the SLA. I would "guesstimate" the number at fifty to one-hundred people (not to be confused with the Los Angeles Soliah/Olson planned trail where the prosecution had a potential witness list of more than 200.)

While the Symbionese Liberation Army is considered the "last gasp" of the "Vietnam era protest movement the Brinks robbery, which occurred in 1991 would be the "Swan Song" The Brinks robbery which killed three involved fugitive remnants of the Weather Underground who allied with the Black Guerrilla Army. The Armored truck contained $1.6 million dollars (figure $5 million in today money. They fronted young white woman as drivers. These woman also feigned being in danger and the three men in the armored car were cold-bloodedly killed when they came to aid of the woman who faked being in distress. They were caught when a getaway car overturned in a police chase.

10-08-06 Star Tribune Sucker-Punches Republican Candidate Alan Fine. click here

Political campaign stuff, Minnesota style by Patty Wetterling, running for a different seat in the US House of Representatives will be the democratic response to President Bush's Saturday radio address. She was chosen because her child Jacob Wetterling was abducted and never found here in Minnesota. The case quickly went national because it was a "clean abduction" with no one connected to the child being a suspect. At the time of the abduction there were claims of "2 million children are missing every year, don't talk to strangers." statements. According to the pre-internet source of factual information, the "World Almanac and Book of Facts" there were 3.6 million live births in the US. A simple "reality check" would show that 60% of children in the US had not been abducted by strangers. The FBI put the number of these "clean abductions" at between, 50 to 60 per year. A number that had been consistent for decades. This is obviously lower that two million and to her credit Patty Wetterling has avoided associating with those in the missing children movement who tend to embellish the facts typically for fundraising.

At least until now. With here new ad and Democratic Party choice for the radio rebuttal Patty Wetterling appears to be used as a pawn of the National Democratic Party in regard to the the Congressman Foley who resigned after sending sexually inappropriate emails to a House page. It's too complicated for here but there was no sexual contact. The add says that Patty Wetterling has been championing the cause for seventeen years but I don't recall Patty Wetterling condemning Bill Clinton and asking for him to leave office after actual physical proof was found of Clinton having sexual contact with an intern (the blue dress.)

Anyway, my connection with this. For more than a year I worked with, on my night shift, one of the 20 or so people who were in the convenience store when the generic middle aged balding white guy came into this store. He had him imprinted in his mind. We tried to locate this perp but no luck.

I've casually followed the Wetterling case since then, Some observations. First off it was one of the rare "clean abductions" . There was nothing suspicious by the family or friends of Jacob Wetterling. My suspicions and those of my witness co-worker focused on the "Pine curtain". My co-worker said that they didn't have viewable pictures of those in the St. John's Abbey near the site of the abduction. I don't know if this has been resolved but the Catholic Church had a pattern of "warehousing" pedophile priests at places like this.

Next off, I don't recall Patty Wetterling condemning President Clinton and calling for his resignation after forensic proof was found of President Clinton having sexual contact with an intern. In the Foley case where Foley resigned, the page was over the age of consent at the time and there was apparently no sexual contact Patty Wetterling is suddenly outraged. Go figure!

"Mix-ups like this are common due to the complexity of the modern prosecution of Symbionese Liberation Army "members" like Kathleen Ann Soliah/Sara Jane Olson arrested as a fugitive here in Minnesota in June 1999.

The first crime that Soliah/Olson was convicted of was a Los Angeles conspiracy to use explosives to try to blow up several police cars with the largest pipe bombs ever made in the US. In the first case the clothes pin trigger pin failed to make contact by less than one-thirty second of an inch. The police car had drive into the parking spot head-in. While answering an emergency call the police car steered hard when backing out because the car next to it had left so that adjacent spot was open. The car was parked in front of a large plate glass window at an IHOP restaurants. There were more than twenty diners on the other side of the glass window.

An alert police watch commander ordered a search for similar packages under other police vehicles. Bomb #2 was found under a police community service vehicle and disarmed.

Soliah/Olson participated in a robbery where she kicked a pregnant bank teller in the stomach. The bank teller miscarried the next day. Soliah/Olson was the "ring leader" "counting off the seconds" at the same bank robbery where Myna Opsahl http://myrnaopsahl.com a mother of four depositing
church collection in the bank was fatally shot by another SLA member taking part in the bank robbery. Mrs. Opsahl was taken to the hospital where her husband was the on-duty doctor called to to the ER when she was brought in. Soliah/Olson was also convicted of this murder.

I have never met a naturalized immigrant who was not proud to show the documentation. I can't believe that a naturalized immigrant would figure they could vote, a right only after attaining citizenship where the documentation protocol is or should be taught in detail.

I have high faith in out election judges but they might be questioned about how often this happened, what if any account of it was made and what the existing regulations are. If there was a pattern of immigrant non citizens attempting to vote this is a story. If the existing rules are too lax to determine this, this is also a story. "

Joel did earlier reports on Keith Ellison. My impression is that with five weeks to go Ellison's Soliah/Olson connection is playing better "out-state" than in the Fifth District. A new bit of information to me was that John Kerry received 71% of the vote in the Congressional Fifth district. This shows an extremely strong democratic "tilt" but Representative Sabo, who is retiring after 28 years in the seat is the mirror opposite of Ellison. It should be interesting to see if the democratic "tilt" holds with a Ellison and all his "baggage" including the support of Soliah/Olson.

(Comment #18) A couple of weeks ago I heard Alan Fine on the Saturday Powerlineblog.com radio show. There, Alan Fine seemed confident and articulate. It was admittedly a friendly venue.

Saturday evening I watched the replay of “Almanac” which started out out with a “debate” by Fifth Congressional Candidates. Alan Fine came across less well there. Since there were no polls on this race the minor candidates were included. These along with Ellison tended to make generalized statements without regard to complexities or consequences. This tends to favor the upstarts.

Someone with a business background is often at a disadvantage here because usually “The devil is in the details”. (For example, Ellison advocated Medicare negotiating with drug companies. The actual leverage you have is a formulary, which restricts doctors ability to prescribe drugs. Is Ellison advocating this?)

The “debate” was undisciplined. Ellison butted into Fine’s opening statement and the moderators didn’t call Ellison on it. The “gay marriage amendment” question had a long rambling opening before the actual subject was mentioned. In a debate a moderator typically doesn’t hem and haw before asking a question. Perhaps the Almanac staff was “rusty” on debates but in a debate if the moderator asks a question, they ask the question.

I saw Ellison answers as vague and generalized. As I said earlier, “The devil is in the details.”. Ellison for example advocated immediate withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and them later talked of a withdrawal strategy. There seems a contradiction there.

Alan Fine needs to spend some quality time in mock debates. Ellison and other candidates don’t play by MBA rules or use the MBA style. Alan Fine also needs to anticipate that future debates will have the heavy hand of “political correctness” anticipate it and insist on rules in a debate, such as a candidate being chastised by the moderator for talking out of turn. A Fine staffer should study and deconstruct the Almanac debate and compare it to something like “Robert’s Rule of Order”. This is easily doable for Kieth Ellison and his staff.

A paste of this will be my second Sunday posting on my Soliah.com The first will be new San Francisco Chronical book review on the “Zebra Killers”. Zebra sort of overlapped the Symbionese Liberation Army. I researched “Zebra” to check out if it was in retaliation for the assassination of Marcus Foster by the SLA. No banana, the Zebra Killings started well before the Foster assignation by the SLA. The police and media started “connecting the dots” on the Zebra Killings” after the SLA assasinated the highest ranking black school official in the US Marcus Foster. The “Zebra Killer” “Death Angels” were members of the Nation of Islam and NOI paid for their legal defense in a definite “hate crime” against whites.

09-13-06 Soliah/Olson supporter Keith Ellison wins Minnesota 5th district dem primary. click here

As the old baseball saying goes "It ain't over till the fat lady sing". I had hoped for an Ellison defeat so I could be done with this. Much of the media is calling Ellison a shoe-in for Martin Sabo's vacated seat. It is true that the the MN Fifth district did vote strongly for John Kerry in the last Election but Keith Ellison is an extremely flawed candidate and Martin Sabo did a credible job in the district for the last 28 years. The rest of the primary vote was split among several good democratic candidates. There was no focus to the anti-Ellison vote.

This campaign will be a world class story for the next seven week. In part this is due to the tightness of congress with few "vulnerable" races and in part due to Ellison being a "Muslin" running for the highest office ever in the US. (Keith Ellison's original conversion to the Muslim faith was as a US "Black Muslim" espousing a racial separation philosophy. This will get interesting! Stay tuned!

The legal precedent may have been the alleged "Terrorist Website charges against the Soliah?olson website for posting names and addresses of involved parties. As I recall, Soliah/Olson lawyer (now in Federal prison for tax evasion J Tony Serra had to pay $5,000 in restitution to a group helping police killed or injured in the line of duty to settle the charges. The Soliah/Olson incident was a "comedy of errors" compared to the malicious intent of this group but it still helped set a precedent.

The primary election is tomorrow for the open Fifth congressional seat here in Minnesota. Keith Ellison was on the Soliah/Olson short list of supports and gave a February 2000 speech at a Soliah/Olson fundraiser where Ellison appeared to still supporting the Nation of Islam. My connection is that Keith Ellison is a due ro his being on the "short list" of Soliah/Olson supporters and finding on archive.org Ellison's speech at the February 2000 "Ungagged one" fundraiser where he made positive reverence to the Nation of Islam and it's leader Louis Farrakhan (sp) concerning a debunked theory on Malcolm X's daughter being entrapped into trying a contract assassination attempt of NIO leader Farrakhan. (Like duhh! her mother, Malcolm X's held this belief. In the final legal disposition of the case Malcom X stated on the record that there was no entrapment involved. This contradicted Keith Ellisons speech at the "ungagged one" Soliah/Olson fundraiser.

I've done basic research on the other fifth congressional district seat and none has has a Soliah/Olson connection. My contribution to this effort was background information on the Soliah/Olson case. Specifically the charges, evidence and past history of the SLA. On archive,org I found the February 2000 Ellison speech at the Soliah/Olson "Ungagged 1" fundraiser (were Ellison also expressed support for the Nation of Islam, five years after he claimed to renounce the organization. Ellison remained on the short list of Soliah/Olson supporters even after guilty pleas in both the pipe bomb conspiracy case and the Myna Opsahl murder. It might be interesting but it contains SLA symbols. The problem is that the SLA didn't start until 1973. The SLA declaration of war against the USA was dated August 21, 1973. The Marcus Foster assassination occurred on election day November 06, 1973. Patricia Hearst was kidnapped on February 4, 1974.

There is a low level conspiracy theory floating around that James Kilgore is the Zodiac killer. I don't buy it I see a few similarities that I consider coincidental. They have DNA samples from a stamp on the Zodiac killer and being a federal and CA state prisoner their should be a DNA profile on James Kilgore. I believe a cursory review will totally clear James Kilgore of being the Zodiac killer. If not already done, this should be done, basically to put this conspiracy theory to rest.

Basically my findings the last few weeks is that in the urban Fifth district the potential voters are more focused on Ellison’s late ticket fees, which I estimate must have cost more than $6000 beyond the tickets. In urban parlance this is a “death spiral”. In Ellison’s case this is definitely a pattern. I’ve been asked some interesting questions here. Were there loan to “bail” Ellison of his ticket costs? Ellison is apparently no stranger to “late payment costs” (I recently forgot a credit card payment and got a $39 late fee, that will definitely not be repeated! )

Another question that came up. How come MS made Keith Ellison’s wife so “forgetfull” but we were assured that MS would not have any affect on the mental funtioing of the late Paul Wellstone?

My inquiries from out state seem to indicate an idea that the DFL has perhaps gone mad in the endorsement process. Soliah/Olson recent Los Angeles Times article of how she was trying to stay low profile in prison (sic)(very widely reprinted) did a wonderful job of “stirring up the muck”, especially out state.

Even though the Greater Minnesota voters can’t vote in the Fifth District Ellison’s antics might harm the Greater Minnesota base of voters who tend to habitually vote democratic.

08-30-06 A source told me that the upcoming September-October History Channel magazine will have a major story on the late Jack Scott. These tend to coincide with History Channel shows. I've taken actions to recieve this copy of the Magazine and will report back on it. This is very notable because the Hearst Corporation has something like a 35% to 40% stake in the History Channel. The Britsh version of the History Channel has already airred a documentary on the SLA. Perhaps it will now be airred here. Also, the movie "Patty Hearst" is available on DVD in Britian but not in the US. Perhaps this will change. My view is that more dissemination of information of the SLA will only help the reputation of the Hearst Corporation and of Patricia Hearst. I say "Bring it on!"

If you followed this website or scroll back to early July Soliah.com found the text of the speech that Keith Ellison gave at the "ungagged one" Soliah/Olson fundraiser in February 2000. This Kieth Ellison speech not only showed Ellisons support of Soliah/Olson but also his continued support of the Nation of Islam, in contradiction to Keith Ellison's claim that his support of NOI ended in 1995 after the "Million Man March".

This is important because this involves a seat for the US (federal) House of Representatives. Martin Olav Sabo is retiring from the 5th district Minnesota seat, (basically Minneapolis and inner ring suburbs). Soliah/Olson supporter Keith Ellison received the DFL (Minnesota democratic party) endorsement for the seat. So far the "terrorist association" of Ellison has been playing best outstate (with those who can't vote in the fifth congressional district. In the city, Ellison's 55 late parking and moving violation tickets (which I figure have late penalties of at least $6K) and 30 day driving suspension are play more prominently in the 5th district.

Looks like classic case of Robert Lifton "Thought Reform" rather than the "Stockholm Syndrome". The Hearst kidnapping was the basis of understanding and treatment of this. The technical term is "cohersive persuasion with totalism." The therapy and rehabilitation techniques were devised from the Hearst kidnapping and rape experience. This case should be interesting to follow.

• Myrna Opsahl, a mother of four, who -- at the age of 42 -- walked into a bank on April 21, 1975, to deposit her church collection and was gunned down and left to bleed to death. Although Olson didn't fire the shot, she did take part in the robbery, kicking a pregnant bank teller who later miscarried and holding a gun to the heads of the bank customers who were lying face down on the floor.

• Tryvge Opshal, who lost his wife of 21 years and was left to raise four young children.

• Jon Opsahl, who was 15 when his mother died and who had a fight with her the day she died. For years he lived with regret for leaving without telling her he loved her.

• The three other Opsahl children, now grown, married and with children of their own. Those children will never get to know their grandmother.

• Patricia Hearst, who served time for Symbionese Liberation Army crimes. If she had to serve time, shouldn't all of them?

• John Hall and James Bryan, the two police officers whose car was parked in front of an IHOP restaurant in 1975, and had pipe bombs planted under it by James Kilgore and Olson.

"What was that Symbionese army thing in San Francisco about? Whatever happened to that best-selling black author who bragged about raping white women to practice for marriage with a black woman? Half forgotten when the mayhem passes: Died from drugs. Hit by a car. Still in jail. Found Jesus. Who?

My comment: The best selling author was Eldridge Cleaver who wrote "Soul On Ice". Cleaver first used the phrase "Death to the fascist insects that prey on the life of the people." that became the Symbionese Liberation Army slogan. Actually, this SLA "role model" bragged that he raped white woman because he enjoyed defiling the white man's "property". He justified his rape of black woman by saying that it would toughen him up for the future "revolution". The SLA greatly admired Eldridge Cleaver and his writings.

08-16-06#2 A note on the LA times article on Soliah/Olson. It can be significantly deconstructed and critiqued. I haven't decide yet if I will. Suffice it to say there is a a lot of "ore" to "mine" in that article. For starters it repeated the claim that she decided to plead guilty after 9-11. What actually happened is after the spring 2001 20/20 appearance when she said on camera that she wasn't in the Crocker Bank she tried to negotiate a plea bargain. If you go back to summer 2001 in my Soliah.com or the archive.org "Soliah in context you will notice the poorly attended California cookbook tour. During these visits to CA the LA prosecutors publicly stated that there were plea bargain attempts. The LA prosecutors stated that these failed when the defense managed to get yet another delay. (I think there were nine delays.). This was pre 9-11.

The SLA has, throughout it's history taken trials to the brink and then pleaded guilty at the last moment. Same for Soliah/Olson I'd like to see the full information exposed as it might have been in a trial.

The LA times link has two pictures. This does not seem to be the way to be "low profile". If seem some MSNBC cable documentaries on the other California woman's prison in Chowchilla. She would really stand out there. I would say that the prison she is in has the same demographics.

Bill and Emily (Montague) Harris should get out "within a year". My estimate was late 2006 for Bill and early 2007 for Emily.

The article claims no contact with the other SLA members since the sentencing. During the old SLA era Bill and Emily used to be "carrier pigeons" rewriting letters to get information betwwen prisoners. I have no idea if direct prisoner to prisoner contact is still prohibited but judging from the cable documentaries I believe it still is.

The chance of transferring to Minnesota's only woman's prison is Shakopee (which doesn't have a wall or fence), a southern suburb of the Twin Cites seems virtually nil.

The somewhat cryptic mention of bankruptcy in the article may relate to the legal bills of more than one million dollars, most of which came from the California Indigent Legal fund which has an average cost of under $700 per felony level prosecution. The fund tries to recoup this money from the defendants. Bankruptcy has become more restrictive since the new bankruptcy law passed last year.

I have to assume this is not satire. A theory I have is that the catcher in question had contact with the late Jack Scott or Jay Weiner, now with the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Keith Ellison was a supporter of Kathleen Ann Soliah/Sara Jane Olson even after she pleaded guilty to (Los Angeles) conspiracy to bomb occupied police cars. I recall Sharon Hendry, the author of “Soliah, the Sara Jane Olsons story (and the local bestseller Glensheen’s Daughter) asking then St. Paul police chief Finney for comments on the book. Then Chief Finney judged the book by it’s title and refused to look at it.

Also at this event is “The foul mouthed” State Senator Sandy Pappas who commented on KTCA Almanac about the Soliah/Olson arrest “Don’t the police have any more current crimes.
