A couple of interesting points here: The 1976 Bombing of the Hearst Castle (all damage not yet fully repaired, had suspects that had a strong resemblance to Kathleen Ann Soliah/Sara Jane Olson and James Kilgore/John Pape. (the bomb exploded in an area that had many tourists and staffers in it just minutes before.) Technically, in the United States there was only one person killed by a chemical weapons terrorist attack. That person was Oakland school superintendent Marcus Foster who was assassinated by the Symbionese Liberation Army with cyanide tipped bullets. Technically it was the bullet trauma and not the cyanide that killed Marcus Foster. This was before the direct "association" with the SLA by Soliah and Kilgore but they had to be aware of the Foster assassination by the SLA.

Basically a "speed bump" that seems to focus on that library nonsense. From what I can tell the rescinding of the statute of Limitations seems unchallenged. This may affect the SLA since the SLA declare war on the US and these were terrorist act involving bombs, not just political statements. I expect the Patriot Act ot be renews with this statute of limitation rescinded for past terrorist acts, critical to potential future prosecution on SLA members and "associates".

A useful and insightful interview by Robert Stone. The major error I detected was describing, the bank robbery victim Myrna Opsahl as "elderly". She was middle aged, sending here children off to grade school. While 9-11 might have affected the film work finance market the original Soliah/Olson case was basically settled by the summer of 2001. Defense trail delays basically caused it to intermesh with the 9-11 events. Soliah/Olson was trying to negotiate a deal during the summer of 2001 but basically backed off every time the defense could finagle another trail delay.

A far left perspective of the "'60's" but even they didn't like the SLA. Interesting article to read "with "a grain of salt" but it contains some interesting perspectives on the "60's". BTW: Leonard Peltier, mentioned in the article is so guilty that not even President Clinton would pardon him (though Clinton pardoned Patricia Hearst in that last day in office.). Also note that this article states that the author is "a psychiatrist from Northern California actively working to impeach Bush and Cheney." I'll reserve comment on that!

Not directly related to the Soliah/Olson case but the Los Angeles "Ramparts Scandal" at least time wise, occurred after the Soliah/Olson arrest. The Soliah/Olson defense seemed to bring up "Ramparts" often, apparently hoping that "Ramparts" would discredit the LAPD enough to lead to abandonment or jury sympathy in the Los Angeles Soliah/Olson case. Judge Fidkler, who handles the Soliah/Olson case was also the chief judge in the "Ramparts" case. I have casually been following "Ramparts" I don't fully comprehend much of this complicated article . Personally, I always felt that the LA Times always had a lefty "agenda" on it's "Ramparts" coverage. Mostly, it put added pressure on the Los Angeles prosecutors in the Soliah/Olson case.

On the three pages of the book on Clint Eastwood I read the third "Dirty Harry" had Clint taking on an SLA like group described in a review as "disgruntled Viet Vets turned terrorist. I'll have to watch "The Enforcer" to see if there are SLA parallels. From IMDB.com I learned that a new "Dirty Harry" is in reproduction for a potential 2006 release. An interesting trivia point for the book on Clint Eastwood was that there was a personnel scheduling conflicts with the the movie "Telefon". Telefon (1977) a mediocre movie is often cited as the second movie on "brainwashing" after the original "Manchurian Candidate".

An interesting article but it made me recall that the SLA were universally negative and found nothing to be thankful for. Of all the reading I've done on the SLA I have found no mention of celebrating Thanksgiving. Go figure!
For me, this Thanksgiving it's primary "You have your health" thing. I had a "bad knee" and there was contemplation of a knee replacement surgery. This would have been six weeks rehab and up to a year before the knee got right. On my own I started using crutches. The knee is getting a lot better so it looks like surgery won't be needed. Thinking of the surgery really made me think out my priorities. Not soliah.com but other things, like navigation our now much larger stores. I used to buy up crutches when I could find them cheap at garage and estate sales. I would loan them to people who didn't have insurance. Most of the time it worked. They didn't try to walk unaided and the knee/leg injury got better. This time a $1 set of used crutches worked for me even though I have access to the best medical care.
Anyway, everyone have a happy Thanksgiving. Coming Monday barring breaking SLA news. How "Dirty Harry"/Clint Eastwood almost took on the SLA in a "Dirty Harry" movie.

The "European situation" is, in many ways like the US in the "civil rights" "Vietnam" and "first energy embargo" eras that, to some extent culminated with the SLA. The "players" are different but to study the situation in Europe now is to help understand the US in the "SLA era" of the US which included the first "Oil embargo" Curiously, I topped the gas tank yesterday with $1.98 gas. The comparison may be specious but it shows that the US adapts and it's problems are far less intractable than Europe's problems.
The nearly fifty year old Minnesota "gay bashing" murder is developing but slowly. You can follow it by going to google news and doing a search on "Roger Vaillancourt" According to news reports he was allegedly castrated and raped before being "accidentally" run over by a car. If so, it's should be interesting to note how police, the medical examiner an mortician failed to notice the fresh castration if it did actually occur. I'm not gay but have long had long hair. There used to be a strange phenomena of supposedly heterosexual males harassing and sexually propositioning me because they claimed I was gay because of my long hair. (who propositioned who?) Sounds like this might be the same thing in a very extreme form. Stay tuned!

I've always speculated, with regards to the Soliah "so long ago" comments on what would happen if an old gay bashing murder came up as a cold case. No indication this was what happened but worth watching.

Harsh but basically true. I am not as well acquainted with the Mary Mapes (I have the new Vanity Fair, I'll try to read it this weekend) case but in the Soliah case, much of the support of Soliah seemed to come from ideology rather than an analysis of facts in the case. Soliah had a lot of "escape clauses" but instead she will be in prison until at least early 2010.

What is notable beyond the domestic eco-terrorism aspect is the stories mention that the FBI could not officially check a publicly available website before the ruling change in 2002 unless it was part of a formal investigation. Soliah/Olson was arrested in mid 1999. I started the first Star Tribune discussion group the day after the arrest. This website http://soliah.com was started ten days after the arrest on June 26, 1999. "Soliah in Context was started soon after. Technically, the FBI could not check or monitor our website, or the old http:// www. saraolsondefense.com until this post 9-11 change in rules. (Note the denial in the Opsahl murder where Soliah/Olson later plead guilty.) More local authorities were able to monitor this and relevant information could then theoretically be passed onto the feds. Basically, in this case it was a "speed bump" but it could have affected other cases more.

Here in the Twin Cities, MN the Wednesday "protests" drew an estimated 800/400. The autumn weather was unseasonably warm and the Minneapolis Public schools gave permission for high school students to skip school for the protest with a note from their parents. <sic>. The USA protests, though very heavily publicized and organized obviously never got "traction". This is in stark contrast to the growing French riots. The French riots, are admittedly still primarily Islamic youth and they contrast with the "Vietnam era" USA protests where the American protesters then tended to be relatively well educated. That said, in the USA both shared an bad economy, high unemployment and an estrangement from the mainstream social order. The contrast is useful in seeing how and why sustained social disorder and "revolution" occurs or flops.

The film "North Country" was recently shot in Northern Minnesota. (It rated a weak fifth in opening week boxoffice) It involved some woman who wanted to work in the "iron" taconite mines in Northern Minnesota, the primary supplier or the raw material for steel making in the US. "Taconite" which is a lower grade of "iron ore" and abundant up there is mostly mined in "open pits" so it's basically a matter of huge oversized machines that don't require brute physical strength to run. No logical reason why a woman can't flip the same levers or drive a power steered truck the size of a house. The males working at these high paying jobs were resistant to woman doing them and arguably tried to make life difficult for the woman who tried to do these jobs. This resulted in one of the first, if not the first class action sexual harassment "hostile work environment" lawsuits in the US.
Fine and good but in the movies promotion (the lawsuit?) was inspired in part by the Clarence Thomas case which happened six years AFTER the filing of the suit! In the case of Anita Hill the most probably scenario was that she was harassed but by a different black man who had an office next to her. He was fired for this when Susan Horchner (sp) was still Hill's friend living and working in Washington DC. Anita Hill first encountered Clarence Thomas six months after Horchner left DC to take a different job. Again, the timeline didn't work. Recently, I posted something here in how the "Zebra Killings" didn't appear to be retaliation for the Marcus Foster assassination, based on timelines. Always check the timelines!

A San Francisco event that coincided with the SLA kidnapping of Patricia Hearst was the "Zebra Killings" of white by bay area Black Muslims. The (racist) derogatory reference to whites was "grafted snakes". Senator Barbara Boxer represents this area and should know the history. I researched the Zebra Killings to see if if was retaliation for the murder of Marcus Foster. The timeline didn't seem to match up with the SLA. The Zebra Killings, in retrospect started almost a year before the Foster assassination but police "figured out the pattern" after the Foster assassination. It seems coincidence but San Francisco had the "twin terror" of Zebra and the SLA until the Los Angeles shootout.

Why was this guy trying to buy much larger quantities? I administer the website on the last at large major 1970's fugitive http://leoburt.com He was part of a group that used the largest truck bomb in US history (until the Oklahoma City Murrah building bomb) Suffice to to say that this screams "truck bomb!". The official silence is defining. This relates to the SLA because it represents previously normal middle class people who turned to extremism. The SLA is worth studying to try to understand the future face of domestic terrorism which the OK attempt seemed to be a forerunner of things to come.

After the Los Angeles and Sacramento guilty pleas Los Angeles police detective told me that he was nearing retirement from the LA police. It's good to see that he has taken up public service. This CNN story describes Detective Tom King at the June 1999 arrest of Soliah/Olson. His father Mervin King was the watch commander of LA police team during the May 1974 shootout in Los Angeles. This father-son team of Los Angeles police officers followed the Symbionese Liberation Army case for more than a quarter century until and after the Soliah/Olson arrest. A PBS Frontline show on the OJ Simpson verdict ten years ago last week reminded me of that "Trial of the Century". What's notable if only as a footnote is that the Soliah/Olson case was expected to be the first very high profile criminal trial in Los Angeles after the OJ Simpson trial. Seemly endless delays and an eventual gluilty plea on the LA cospiracy to pipebomb trial meant that this never occurred but it makes for interesting "what if's".

I'm around 90% through reading "Trance". "Trance" is long, too long but interesting in the way it was written. It deals with the peripheral issues you might have speculated on if you were following the "old" SLA saga in real time. As an example, I have no idea if "Guy Mock-aka-Jack Scott was threatened with eviction from his New York apartment because he was running his "sports institute" out of it. If I start a serious SLA project in a couple of years I will reread "Trance" first and take notes about what to look for.

Locally, here in the Twin Cities, the Dylan documentary parts one and two will be shown Monday and Tuesday night, respectively with a two hour "protest songs" Wednesday night. Both parts of the Dylan documentary will be rebroadcast this Saturday evening. Basically, at "EP" speed all three will fit on a T-120 tape. Well worth taping, saving and watching.
Bob Dylan has no direct role in the SLA but there are some peripheral roles. Soliah/Olson went to the same beauty shop as the now deceased mother of Bob Dylan. They ran into each other and exchanged pleasantries at the beauty show after Soliah/Olson was released from the Ramsey County Jail in mid 1999 after making the million dollar bail.
I lived a for twelve years a "generous" 100 yards from the corner in Dinkeytown (Minneapolis U of MN campus) where Bob Dylan got his start. Dylan owned property there and his mother was a fan of the "ethnic" restaurants in Dinkeytown I would occasionally run across Dylan with or without his mother. We would talk and occasionally have lunch but no profound conversations. I knew that Dylan had a Dinkeytown connection and occasionally heard his songs on the radio but that was it. Dylan was a nice pleasant guy but I don't recall us every discussing music.
When Soliah/Olson, Kilgore and Michael Borton moved to the Twin Cities one of her first jobs was cooking at a Fraternity on "Frat Row" in Dinkeytown. The SLA's Camellia Hall once lived in Dinkeytown but I haven't found any connection there. In the March 2001 "ABC-20-20" Soliah claimed that she took the name Sara(h) Jane Olson from the Dylan songs "Sara(h) Jane. I just checked and this song was released in 1973, two years before "Sara Jane Moore" became a presidential assassination "wannabee". Note that the Soliah alias "Sara Jane Moore" lacks the "h". 75% of the time the "h" is present. "Sara(h) is the name Nazi Germany required on ID's of Jewish women. Dylan is Jewish so he might have picked up on this in the song.
Dylan didn't do much for "the revolution" here in the US but the Dylan influence is huge in Europe. Someone named "Fischer" who apparently is the founder of the German "Green Party" was quoted as saying that Dylan was a greater influence than Marx. On the other side the late pope John Paul was a big fan of Dylan's. In Eastern Europe the "rock star politician" is surprisingly common. The communist regime denied opposition access to "media" so they had to "work the crowds". Religion and performance music were common ways to do this.
The Minnesota Historical Society has the oldest know Bob Dylan recording in a safeguarded "listen only" format. It sounds totally awful but you can sense Bob Dylan in there. It's actually a tourist draw, especially with Europe, (OK, they also ride our new light rail and shop the Mall of America). Surprisingly, the largest "political effect" of Dylan would probably be in the overthrow of communism in Eastern Europe. Go figure!

I probably read but didn't comprehend that Jim Jones of the People's Temple was also from Indian U. The gay serial killer Herbert Baumeister. The working title of "murders" should have an "alleged" with it. Bill and Emily "Harris" both plead guilty to the Opsahl murder but Angela (DeAngeles) Atwood was killed in the LA shootout before the Opsahl murder. If she was alleged to be part of a murder it would be the assassination of Marcus Foster. If so the Harris's would also be implicated but we must add "alleged".

Another great column by Katherine Kersten, highlighted in powerlineblog.com As for a 9-11 report I am working on a story on how the feds envisions the Symbionese Liberation Army carrying out a "9-11" type attack. Not that the SLA had intended this but the fed "think tanks" had envisioned the SLA doing this. This was reinforced by the SLA using "flight attendant" and "pilot" uniforms shortly after the attempted high jacking of an airplane to fly into the White House by Samuel Byke. That plot fortunately failed but the feds envisioned a "9-11" type action by the SLA. Developing!

I'm no fan of Garrison Keillor but essentially he get it right about the French Quarter. I have been advised by everyone I know who had been to New Orleans not to stray outside of the tourist districts. Such restriction are unheard of here in Minnesota where a woman recently completed walking all of Minneapolis's 1000 miles of streets, even the "bad" neighborhoods. I clicked on one of the ads present when I read this story (regular targeted ads, not directly related to the story.) and one was for http://frenchquarterhotels.com/ If you check hotel availability you would think that they were open for business as usual. Obviously the site has not been updated. BTW: The French Quarter was on the highest ground and did not experience significant flooding but it did experience hurricane damage and does not have operating utilities.

News reports stated that during the Soliah/Olson trip to Zimbabwe she used a borrowed passport (apparently here husband doctor never thought to enquire about her passport nor apparently did the sponsoring organization Oxfam.). The news reports stating that the picture on the borrowed passport is was close enough to not need alteration. Passport usage records are kept forever. If Dunbar0Ortiz's passport was not used during the Zimbabwe trip in the early 1980's (soon after Patricia Hearst book "Every Secret Thing" was released in hardcover.). Looking at pictures in the articles pictures linked in the Frontpagemag.com article and a search of google.com pictures one might conclude that there was a remarkable photographic similarity.
I could be wrong. I Dunbar-Ortiz neither had a passport or kept full custody of it I will gladly redact the above posting and publish a retraction that will be sent to all media and law enforcement people I have regular contact with.

I figured this to be the case. With all the rumors if Arafat wasn't HIV why not a public autopsy or at least a public blood sample. In the age of the internet thing like Arafat's bisexuality got out. It shows the corruption of the French medical establishment who let thousand of mostly elderly poor and disabled die during a heat wave because the French doctors did not want to interrupt their "European vacations". Some SLA context here. About the time of the Marcus Foster assassination and Hearst kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army the black on white "Zebra Killings". The killers turned out to from a NIO mosque in San Francisco. The "heat" became so strong between the police seeking Zebra and the SLA that the SLA was literally starving in San Francisco, afraid to go out for supplies. They reportedly considered dressing their token black leader Donald "Cinque" Defreeze as a black woman to go shopping. In San Francisco the SLA were in contact with a number of Black Muslims, though none was implicated in "Zebra".
This led to the SLA to "escape" Frisco and move to Los Angeles where the SLA boasted about "killing a cop a night". LAPD officer Mike Edwards was executed in LA the day after the SLA arrived in the neighborhood where the SLA were at first staying.
I aquired the ballistics of the bullet that killed Officer Edwards and forwarded this information to the LA prosecutors of Soliah/Olson. All SLA guns of that type were tested. None turned out to be the murder weapon so in this case the SLA was cleared, based on ballistics. James Ellroy the novelist who wrote the LA screen writers "holy grail "LA Confidential" was planning a screenplay "77" on the execution murder of Officer Edwards, apparently with an SLA theme. (more like 5,000 rounds fired. LA swat gun barrels, that had more than 50,000 total shots were replaced but most ere shot in practice and training.)Truth be told the murder was likely a "lover's triangle" with (white) Officer Edward involved with a black woman.http://modestyarbor.com/77.html

The Soliah family lived in Barnesville, MN until around 1958 when they moved to California. (around the time the original "potato days, ended, a period of decline for the time.) Barnesville, MN is twenty miles east of Fargo-Moorhead on the Minnesota, North Dakota border. The Soliah family left in a cloud with Marty allegedly trying to steal school equipment which police allegedly forced him to return to the school.

Leo Burt is still a fugitive wanted in the August 24, 1970 fertilizer bomb at Sterling Hall in Madison Wisconsin. It happened early in the morning. There were something like eight bomb threats later in the day here in the Twin Cities. The Armstrong brothers had previously been in the Twin Cities, staying with a relative in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis. Leo Burt and James Kilgore were both considered lower level Unabomber suspects. LeoBurt.com has a link with archive material from the Madison newspaper. The bombing happened three years before the SLA but it pretty much shut down the mass protest movements. The 1970 "Mayday" demonstrations drew over one-million people nationwide, the 1971 drew only 30,000 (and it declined from there).

In connection with "Fish in a
barrel," reader Greg Lang reminds us:
[When] Jesse Ventura was elected Governor [in 1998] there was a MN state constitutional amendment guaranteeing fishing and hunting. PETA came to town to protest, right before the election, citing the Wheaties box cover with fishing tournament winners.
The constitutional amendment on fishing and hunting passed with 72% of the vote. That's amazing because constitutional amendments are at the end of the ballot and not voting on them is considered a "no" vote.

Taking a look at the Minnesota Constitution, we find that it lacks the concision of the federal Constitution. As a result, it has room for important provisions such as Article XIII, Sec. 12:
PRESERVATION OF HUNTING AND FISHING. Hunting and fishing and the taking of game and fish are a valued part of our heritage that shall be forever preserved for the people and shall be managed by law and regulation for the public good. [Adopted, November 3, 1998]
Here we see the "natural right" understanding of the Declaration of Independence, heavily filtered through the light of the Progressive era that brought us the administrative state. Hunting and fishing are not proclaimed to be one of the rights that man possesses by nature, but rather are declared "a valued part of our heritage." Sort of like bocce ball, the beloved recreational activity of the late Minnesota Governor Rudy Perpich. The practice of hunting and fishing are accordingly subject to regulation by experts "for the public good." This isn't exactly the sort of proclamation that stirs men to stake their lives, fortune or sacred honor on it, but it should do to hold off the likes of PETA.

OK!, It's a stretch but a bit of "comic relief" never hurts. Air America got a nearly one million dollar "loan" from an inner city Bronx Boys and Girls club when it had trouble meeting it's payroll. It has apparently agreed to a "payback schedule". This does not seem a good sign for a financially troubled organization. For admittedly stretched SLA links her goes. (My new Ford Ranger is defect free and seems to have the gas mileage of a compact car with the new 4 cylinder and manual transmission. EPA 24/29. Nice vehicle! Nice mileage, very close to the average new compact car.) If you want to do a "politically correct" "save fuel thing" buy a manual transmission vehicle. and diss those driving an automatic. A "stick typically saves two miles per gallon. Besides, a "stick" is a lot more fun to drive and you can still "haul ass" working the torque curve when you really need the power.

The rather tenuous connection here is that Dee Henderson was seeking a transfer to the Minnesota Women's Prison in Shakopee, where Minnesota's only state prison is located. In the original "plea bargain" of the Los Angeles Soliah/Olson bombing conspiracy charge there was an request that the sentence be served in Minnesota. As far I can tell there has been no serious follow-up on this. If it is requested it should be done with public debate, not "under the radar".

Basically "old news, old plot". I recall that was done after the 1973 oil embargo in the local old AWA (starting point of Jessie Ventura.) I have envisioned a pro-wrestling "bad-guy" based (fictionally of course.) on "Field Marshal General Teko". They could have a "field day" (pun intended) with that based on "Teko's" statements in audio tapes and communiqué's). A comparison character might be "Bobby Heenan" the swarmy "bad guy" wrestling manager character. Since the London bombers were so normal and otherwise middle class, (very much like the SLA) there may be an angle to work. It can be done with a high degree of "political correctness" since the SLA is white, middle class origin and not significantly supported by the "politically correct" or "leftover left" establishment/opposition groups. The SLA has been convicted so politically they seem "fair game." for this so long as violence is not advocated in the portrayal.

Technically the US is still at war with the Symbionese Liberation Army which declared war in the US. http://ocrscans.homestead.com/slawar.html Something I just noticed is that this was dated August 21, 1973, about a month before the start of the 1973 Arab oil embargo. I see no connection between the two but the SLA started their reign of terror a month before the oil shock which was a severe blow to the US economy and the way of life. The SLA is looking more like a "reverse Forrest Gump".
I'm one third through the FICTION novel "Trance" It's a good read if you remember it's fiction. If you have followed the case it reads a lot like the speculative discussion that were ongoing when the case was ongoing. On other stuff, I was lured by those auto makers "employee discounts" so I was doing that rather than reading about Symbians. I chose a new Ford Ranger, but the proletariat "XL" model. A bourgeois touch was air conditioning. By chance it was built at the Ford Highland Park plant, less than a mile from the Soliah/Olson "Safehouse beautiful".. With the new double overhead cam sixteen valve four cylinder inline four engine it get's a very proletariat EPA 24/29 MPG.

07-19-05 I got my DVD of "Guerrilla" in the mail. Tell people that big video chains and mail order video should soon have the for rental. The "extras" are interesting even if you saw "Guerrilla" in a theater and PBS. Call your local movie rental chain or check their website for availability but worth the rental just for the extras. In the Stone interview "exra" there is a claim that that the Hearst spent a total of $11 million during the food giveaway fiasco. Inflation adjusted that's close to $50 million in today's dollars.

No direct SLA connection here but story might be useful in understanding the fed response to the Hearst kidnapping. Bernadine Dohrne had release a communiqué congratulating the SLA on the Marcus Foster assassination. The Weather Underground had connection with mideast terror groups according to Larry Grathworth in "Bring Down America" The Bader -Meinhoff gang in Europe was working with the Palestine Liberation Organization of action like the "Entebbe" airplane high jacking. This may explain the intensity of the fed response especially now that it is known that Romania funded the "Carlos the Jackal". Note also his conversion to Islam.

Basically, within a couple of weeks of the the Hearst kidnapping Samuel Byck attempted to highjack an airplane with the plan to fly it into the White House and kill Nixon. This was an obvious precursor to "9-11". Byke was killed on the ground before the airliner took off (a pilot was killed and another was disabled for five years). While the incident received minimal publicity, to help prevent "copycats" the government "think tanks" envisioned the SLA doing essentially a "9-11" suicide attack. In the first "safe houses" after the Hearst kidnapping, it was found that these were rented under "airline personnel" aliases and various flight manuals were found. Airport security was very "tight" in the West Coast. One regular reader of Soliah.com, who was them working as a flight attendant for Branniff, had a passing resemblance to Hearst and was constantly being detained by police. Key Point is the government "think tanks" had basically worked out the "9-11" scenarios, but it was speculated that the SLA would do it. It's questionable weather the SLA was even aware of Samuel Byke but if you deep dig in fed records it's likely that the feds had foreseen "9-11" but with the SLA"

Thanks for the tip from "Viking Mike". This is an excellent case of how technology is advancing in "old cases" and "cold cases". If you find one email me the link. The technology was just emerging at the time of the Soliah/Olson arrest and it is arguably the the highest profile case in the old/cold case field.
As an example of how forensic technology and going mainstream and entering our cultural awareness last weekend a $1 DVD rental of mine from http://redbox.com was "Ocean's Twelve" Watch able movie, I liked "Oceans Eleven". "12" was worth a dollar rental but not much more. To my surprise there was an abundance of forensic technology discussion throughout the movie, how that tiny bit of evidence had convicted someone. Plot and story was hard to follow but it's a good watch for someone who follows forensic science advancements. The art of communicating this to the public is not yet ready for prime time but it's out there.
